Ombré is the gradual blending of one color hue to another. Given how pleasing it is to the eye, it is no wonder that the technique was fashionable in textiles during the 19th century.

I employed the technique for my daughter's 2nd birthday. I'm not a very good baker, but her birthday is a great excuse for an annual attempt at creating a special cake for her.
During this past month I had fun applying the ombré concept to jewelry, using my favorites - Tahitian and South Sea pearls. This 18" necklace strung on silk cord with a palladium clasp was a project I conceived of more than a year and a half ago. The result speaks for itself.
Here are the other creations in my ombré collection made with sterling silver.
Just when you thought pearls couldn't be more elegant, ombré adds a little something more. Wouldn't you say?
