Who doesn't dream of going to French Polynesia?
Well, after years of talking about it, my husband and I recently went to Tahiti, Moorea and Bora Bora! Here's a post card picture of where we stayed in paradise.

As if tropical weather, crystal blue waters, beautiful Polynesians and their culture, and delicious cuisine weren't enough, French Polynesia also boasts of...
...TAHITIAN PEARLS!
...TAHITIAN PEARLS!
We went diving for pearls at a small pearl farm.
This is what a pearl farm looks like underwater.
We pulled out 2 strands of oysters.
The outside of the oysters are cleaned regularly. Apparently clean oysters are happy oysters, and happy oysters produce better quality pearls.
The grafter carefully removes the pearl without damaging the oyster, which will go on to produce pearls two more times before being let go to the seabed to produce more oysters.
Below, the pearl is cleaned, graded, sized, and drilled.
Voilà! The pearl is ready to take part in a creation.
Here I am selecting baroque pearls. Keep a look out for my new creations made with recently acquired Tahitian pearls!
